Aim of the coursesThese courses will show you how to make the best and full use of Mathcad's unique document interface and powerful problem solving features. The courses are highly interactive; questions and feedback are welcome throughout the course. Our goal is to engage all participants in the learning process.
The courses focus on the practical application of Mathcad. They are ideally suited to anyone who needs to use maths as a tool to solve problems; this includes engineers, scientists, teachers and other technical professionals.
Day One - Getting to grips with MathcadWho should attend? Anyone who is using Mathcad software for the first time or who has just a basic knowledge as a result of periodic use.
During the day you will learn about:
- An introduction to the Mathcad interface
- Defining variables, and entering and editing equations
- Functions
- 2D and 3D plots
- Conditional functions
- Units and Dimensions
Day Two - Exploring MathcadWho should attend? This course is ideal for anyone who already has a good working knowledge of Mathcad's functions and capabilities, but would like to find out about the software's advanced features.
During the day you will learn about:
- Symbolic operations - including integration, differentiation, symbolic equation solving etc.
- Matrices and vectors
- Importing and exporting data
- Integrating Mathcad and Excel
- Data analysis - curve-fitting, interpolation, extrapolation etc
- Equation solving - ODEs, simultaneous linear equations, implicit equations, polynomials
Training AftercareThe course fee includes 2 hours of aftercare and consultancy - this can be via the phone, webex or email. In that time you can:
- Reinforce and recap concepts taught in the course
- Ask application-specific questions
- Hunt down gremlins or modify existing worksheets

Trainer Profile: Samir Khan
After graduating with an undergraduate degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Nottingham, Samir Khan successfully completed an industrially sponsored PhD at Heriot-Watt University. As well as developing mathematical models of multiphase fluid systems, he has trained students in CAD and has solved engineering problems with a wide range of software tools. He has over four years experience of giving Mathcad training courses and technical support and is the only accredited Mathcad trainer in the UK. He also provides Mathcad consultancy services. |
