Batch Decomposition of Acetylated Castor Oil to Drying Oil  File Size 22.51K | Date Added August, 21, 2000

You can you use and modify any of these worksheets with the Vissim 7 trial

This simulation models the batch decomposition of acetylated castor oil to drying oil and acetic acid vapour. The reaction is endothermic, and heat transfer to the reactor is required in order to accomplish the decomposition of the acetylated oil, to liberate acetic acid vapor.

Assumptions

  • The model here treats the process as occuring at constant reactor mass, although actually some mass is lost via the acetic acid vapor.
  • The
  • effect of temperature and composition on the value of specific heat capacity is ignored. However, this can be taken into account by modelling a block for Cp(T, composition).

Data values used for this model are based on those used by Froment & Bischoff

    Product Reviews

"Due to its power, flexibility, ease-of-use, and low cost, VisSim has been Carrier's choice for system modeling, simulation, data acquisition, and rapid prototyping for over eight years."
Mr. Richard Kolk - Manager Simulation & Control Technology

"For my current project, VisSim has allowed me to collapse my firmware development time from months down to about a week. It is almost impossible to overstate the importance of VisSim to my development time-table." -Greg Gottschalk
